Andraé Crouch

Andraé Crouch was born in Los Angeles and began playing piano for his father's church at the age of nine.

The first group he formed was the COGICS (Church of God in Christ Singers), which consisted of Crouch, Gloria Jones, Edna Wright, Blinky Williams, Sandra Crouch, and Billy Preston, who was the youngest of them. In 1965, he formed the Disciples and soon after his first recording project, the group started touring. By combining the traditional style of church music with the techniques and production of pop music, he became the true pioneer of contemporary gospel music.

Although he was not active as a musician after 1983 for unknown reason, he came back in 1994. Few years ago, he returned to Los Angeles and became a pastor for his father's New Christ Memorial Church of God in Christ.
