5 out of 5 stars Great Silly Fun!   October 18, 2008
This is a fun CD! We use it in the car when we travel and in the house when we are doing chores. I even find myself humming the tunes @ work! Even our little grump will sing along - but only if he thinks no one is watching!

5 out of 5 stars Good variety   August 25, 2008
The children in my home day care really enjoy this CD, especially when I introduced the movements suggested in the book that came with the CD. It does include some religious references as one other reviewer commented. I would still recommend this CD.

    5 out of 5 stars Fantastic - Just like I remember   August 24, 2008

I have to admit that I'm shocked by some of the reviews. My sister and I grew up on Wee Sing Silly Songs. We would sing it for hours - completely went through one tape and had to buy another. I'm a new mom and I couldn't wait to order this for my daughter because it brought back such great memories - I started humming the songs again just by reading through the titles on the back of the CD. I even remembered the words and I haven't heard the songs in over 20 years. Yes, it has songs with lines like "Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, guess I'll go eat worms" and "I'm squishing up a baby bumble bee," but as a kid you don't even think about the adult meanings in the song, you think about how silly it would be to eat worms. I'm quite surprised that these are new songs to people, as I had learned them long before we ever even had the tape - they're frankly classics.

1 out of 5 stars Irresponsible and Insane   February 3, 2008

Thankfully, we didn't pay for this book. Our children's grandpa found it at a garage sale. Upon further inspection, he recommended we get rid of it. Here's an excerpt from a touching little ditty entitled, "Nobody Likes Me." It goes like this:

"Nobody likes me, Ev'rybody hates me, Guess I'll go eat worms, Long, thin, slimy ones, Short, fat, juicy ones, Itsy, bitsy, fuzzy, wuzzy worms."

Let's just go ahead and destroy our daughters' blossoming self-images.

How about this one called "The Little Skunk's Hole:"

"Oh, I stuck my head in the little skunk's hole, And the little skunk said, 'Well, bless my soul! Take it out! Take it out! Remove it!'"

At least I admit that my mind's in the gutter. I don't disguise it behind the veil of Christianity, if that's what they're trying to call it. Indeed, there are plenty of Biblical references peppered throughout this book which can further pave your child's path toward the land of serial killer-dom.

"I'm squishing up the baby bumblebee (use thumb to squash bee into palm)

"Won't my mommy be so proud of me, I'm squishing up a baby bumblebee, 'Ooh! It's yucky!'

"I'm wiping off the baby bumble bee (wipe hands on clothes) Won't my mommy be so proud of me..."

I considered posting a video review of this book showing my kids torturing and killing defenseless animals after being exposed to its horrific content, but that would have been fiction, since they are absolutely not going near it.

Here's another catchy title: "Boom, Boom, Ain't it Great to be Crazy?" That pretty much sums up my impression of the author(s). I believe whole-heartedly in free speech. Otherwise, I would petition the government to ban this book outright.

4 out of 5 stars FUN INNOCENT SONGS THAT HELP TEACH READING   December 22, 2007

I had these books and (tapes) as a child, and as a completely agnostic person I can assure you that there are no subliminal religious messages. These books are full of traditional songs, american and international, that have been sung for generations. They include a booklet full of the lyrics and the music to help kids learn to read and read music in an easy to grasp format i.e. singalong. I would recommend them to anyone, they were some of my most valuable possesions as a child and are included in some of my fondest memories today.
