So Glad I Bought This CD December 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I almost didn't purchase this. I love SNTR, but I just wasn't too much into Christmas this year. I'm so glad I changed my mind. The CD is just perfection - there's really nothing else to say.
Love this music December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is one of the better Christmas CD's out there right now, wish it had more songs though.
Leigh is my second-cousin! I love this woman--and CD! November 19, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Track 5 is flawless; "Some Children See Him" will make you cry like a baby--and that is a good thing! Leigh's take on each different song is just what we need during uncertain times.
Yes, I'm in our church choir (Tenor I) and last week I printed announcements for choirmembers about "Dawn of Grace" and other great CDs. Ah, that was all good & well until one of the sopranos (it was warm in the rehearsal room)--a mother of 5 grown kids--passed out. Two MDs, me (clinical pyschologist), and a real church family came to her side.
Good intentions, at least. My motto is "buy in bulk." Help my cousin!
Thanks, Larry Barber, Ph.D.
Sixpence are back on the road November 16, 2008 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
Leigh Nash's solo album was a beautiful piece of work and it was good to see her involved in different projects. Nevertheless it was a joy to hear that SNTR were making a comeback. This album of Christmas themed songs is a well produced piece of work that oozes quality. There's a mixture of traditional songs with great arrangements, newer songs that have charm and warmth and covers like Joni Mitchell's 'River'. Leigh Nash's lilting bell like voice is as good as ever and Matt Slocum's playing and arrangments are sheer class. After what seems considerable praise you may wonder why only 3-stars? It's still a good rating! It's simply that Christmas albums will always have a limit to what you can do with them, and I'm waiting for an original Nash/Slocum project with lots of new, vibrant songs with that real Sixpence verve about it.
