I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Born in Amityville, New York, McClurkin spent his childhood
in a family filled with domestic violence and drug abuse. His aunt,
who was a background singer for the legendary Andraé
Crouch, lead him to the salvation, and he accepted Jesus as his
savior at the age of 9.
As a teenager, he formed the McClurkin Singers with his
sisters. He later formed the New York Restoration Choir, which focused
more on performing on the streets and at the prisons rather than on
church tours.
In 1989, McClurkin started serving Marvin Winans' Perfecting
Church in Detroit as an associate minister. In 1996, he released his
self-titled solo debut album through Warner Alliance.
He is now the pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in Long
Island.
