Amazon.com Following the best-selling album of 2007-the #1 Pop, quadruple-platinum Noel-singer, Josh Groban headlines a new CD+DVD set, featuring live versions of several of his hits plus appearances by Angelique Kidjo and Lucia Micarelli. Filmed in 2007 in Salt Lake City, in honor of his first arena concert, which was held in the same city where he performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies, Awake Live raises up ever higher the most popular young Adult Contemporary star of our era.

Disappointing September 18, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Read great reviews on this, however, the majority of songs are not in English. Even if I was biligual, it sounds as though he is singing in at least 4 different languages. While I don't object to songs in different languages, I prefer not to have almost an entire CD of songs I can't understand other than the melody. Probably will not play it very often, or maybe I will give it to someone who wants it.
Lackluster entry lacks good English pop songs September 10, 2008 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I really think Josh Groban is a talent and sings well. What a shame he is picking particularly bad songs and many of them, sorry, NOT sung in English. This man could have the appeal of Barbara Streisand or Neil Diamond or his contemporary, Celine Dion, and fiddles with South African twaddle and seemingly drug induced songs about falling, etc. The best song on the dvd is "You are Loved" and its not even featured on the accompanying cd. This is a really lame set and is priced very high. I hope that Josh, who deserves a long lasting career, picks better songs, continues to release his cd/dvd combinations, teams up with Celine Dion and other pop vocalists occasionally, and enters the stratosphere rather than lingering in the depths of weird and only personally relevant to him music. You can sing Josh...now make us all fall in love with some great new English songs please. I just about fell off my chair with your useless South African song on this album. Sorry it didnt capture my attention or interest at all - though it clearly satisfied some need for you. Tackle a few well written new upbeat popular songs in your next venture. Sing a duet with Celine. "You are Loved" was heartfelt and yet it too only scratched the surface on this album of what you are truly capable of and destined for. The world needs a better effort from you with songs that truly soar. This album underwhelmed, sorry.

I have been watching Josh' career from the beginning...he is wonderful and his voice is so magnificent...if you have never heard him you are in for a special treat...
AMAZING!! September 8, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I LOVE THIS CD!!! Josh Groban is beyond amazing, and I simply never get tired of listening to him! I think the live recording adds something to the energy of his performance as well, so I recommend the live version.
Great voice, no action September 8, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
First, I'm a huge fan of Josh Grobin's. Saw the Awake concert in person twice and was totally enthralled each time. Unfortunately, for me, the excitement of seeing him live is not generated by this DVD. It's too polished and most of the audience interaction was cut. The interaction during the concert created a nice balance between the dramatic music and the playfulness of the singer which is missing on the DVD. Parts of the DVD seem to highlight Josh's awkwardness with faster tempo music. He knows he can't dance but his minimal attempts seem forced for the sake of the DVD. The two times I saw him live he moved much more naturally. However, the music is fantastic and Lucia Micarelli's Kashmir rocks. If you're Josh Groban fan this is a must have.
