love her music May 31, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I only gave this four stars , because I saw her live just a month ago and she and her dancers are so much better than this live version though this is alot older. Her music and her lyrics are so insperational. I own the music cd and love it. Nicole C. Mullen is awesome in everything she does.
An Excellent Live Album December 17, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This project features songs from Nicole C. Mullen's first two project. To me, this alone makes this project a must have: It features both "Call On Jesus" and "Redeemer" on the same project.
The credits and the sound hint that there is a balance between a live band and pre-recorded tracks. For example, I doubt Mullen had a live string section to introduce "Call On Jesus".
Mullen's songs show thought, and a desire to minister, as opposed to making money. I have been lifted up by "Call On Jesus" and "Redeemer." Additionally, the project includes "On My Knees", which Mullen wrote, but was first recorded by Jacki Velasquez as her first single (before Mullen recorded herself).
If you want to be ministered to and uplifted musically, this upbeat album will accomplish that.

Caution!!! It may not be what you think it is. October 18, 2005 2 out of 13 found this review helpful
Depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I picked up the wrong thing. I remember thinking a while back that I wanted to pick up her CD, because I remember hearing her name on the radio and thinking I don't know which of her songs I liked but I know I really liked one. Well, I don't think she sings that song. And when I heard the first track on the DVD I immediately knew I wasn't going to like it.
I am not very fond of her voice. She has a pretty voice I'd give it a three, but not an outstanding voice. I am an individual who likes people with way above standard vocal ability your Clark family, Kim Burrell, Mariah, Whitney and so on.
Let me say, their were some clear warning signs such as the guitar she is holding on the back cover. The audience was predominantly white. If you heard her voice on the radio like me you would think she is Caucasian.
I am trying to caution someone that is expecting an...I guess the best way to say it is a "black sound." And it just isn't. She has some great songs...three of my favorites that I didn't know she song were "Redeemer", "On my Knees", and "Call on Jesus." You would have to know that I listen to "white" Christian music to have found her in the first place. Heck I like country music. If it sounds good it sounds good. But this is not Gospel, Contemporary Gospel, or close to it. It is Christian. I felt the need to write this because I bought the DVD then decided whether to open it or not based on the reviews. Well, I got duped.
So being that I do listen to this genre I would really give it a three, because I am not terribly fond of the sound of her voice. There isn't a large variety in her vocal ability, like riffs and runs, vocal range, or power. The band was okay. The choreography was inconsistent. It had some weak spots. And the dancers aren't very insync. Now, one would say well they are young girls (it appears) however I have seen 3 to 6 year olds perfectly coordinated and not miss a step. The choir was excellent, full and rich. Her back up singers were great. The voices blended very well. That's a definite 5. You can tell she has a good heart and a relationship with God for those who consider that in a purchase.
In light that I happen to come upon three songs in particular that I already liked I will keep it. There are a couple other songs that I did enjoy where that sound in her voice is not quite as grating. If you are an eclectic music lover like myself it is worth keeping. If you always listen to Christian music it is a MUST BUY. If you always listen to Gospel DON'T BUY.
Slimply, Outstanding!!! February 20, 2004 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I had never been a big fan of Nicole Mullen. But, after watching this DVD, I must say that she is Simply Outstanding!!! If you have a teenage daughter, sit down and watch this video with her. It will be a blessing for you and your daughter. I was so lifted by her songs that I plan to go out and buy her past CDs to see what I have missed out on. Nicole is truly anointed.
