Great movie! October 18, 2008 My son and I have watched the movie so many times, that we can even sing the songs. My little one loves it, so I do. It's great to find movies with a good message for our kids, and with a good use of the language, without "bad words". Kudos for the creators of Veggie Tales!
Funny August 16, 2008 Very funny, especially if your are a LOTR fan. My wife and I actually laughed more than our kids (3 & 4).
Not like the other Veggie Tales movies June 2, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Our family typically likes Veggie Tales movies, but this one is our least favorite. Unlike "Josh and the Big Wall" or "Dave and the Giant Pickle," LOTB has little if any Bible message. And unless you've watched "The Lord of the Rings" movies, you won't understand the plot or the humor. Furthermore, the music and several of the scenes were a bit too scary and dark for my 3 year old. It seemed as though the makers of this movie just threw in a Bible verse in the last scene, when in fact the verse didn't apply to the movie much at all. I think Veggie Tales should go back to the old days when their movies were uniquely Biblical and humorous, instead of trying to make children's videos that are parodies of adult movies.
Best Veggie Tales Ever! January 15, 2008 This is my very favorite veggie video. It harks back to the earliest Veggie Tales when they did parodies of old TV shows like "Beverly Hillbillies" and "Gilligan's Island." This time the Veggies have taken on epic fantasy farce, and we're all the merrier for it.
The show is packed with inside jokes for Lord of the Rings fans, and the "Silly Songs for Elves" is especially hilarious. What really makes it, though, is the song recorded by Wynonna underscoring the closing credits. Now that's classy! Don't miss the special features, like the comment track, where you find out where those "center earth" sets really came from.
No Veggie library is complete without this clever little gem. Good silly fun!
To cheezy, but somehow still funny January 3, 2008 Maybe I shpuld start this review by telling that I'm an adult. I was kind of disapointed with this movie, since the graphic isn't that good. The story begins the same way as Lord of the Ring, but later it becomes a totally different story. This is for me a flaw. I mean, I'm aware that the story of lord of the rings not is the kind that you tell little children, but I believe that it could have been made better. In the end, it comes out kind of cheezy However, the things that saves this movie is the refernces to its original that actually do exist, which is really, really funny.
