Product Description Cold-souled ebenezer scrooge has a change of heart after spirit visitations on christmas eve. Folks might not have had much to sing about in 1840s england but this musical will make you believe otherwise. Kenneth mores musical number as the ghost of christmas present is especially entertaining. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 09/23/2003 Starring: Albert Finney Edith Evans Run time: 118 minutes Rating: G Director: Ronald Neame
Amazon.com A mixed bag as variations on A Christmas Carol go, this 1970 British musical tells the usual story of Scrooge (Albert Finney) and his spirits on Christmas Eve, although the whole thing is set to music by Leslie Bricusse. Except for Finney's feisty and involved performance, however, there isn't much to recommend this. The songs, which absorb so much of the evolving story line and emotions, are not all that good. Plenty of support, however, from the likes of Roy Kinnear (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory) and Dame Edith Evans (Tom Jones), the handsome production is directed by veteran Ronald Neame (The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie). --Tom Keogh

Singing Scrooge January 8, 2009 I love this version because it is a musical, even Albert Finney manages to croak out a decent melody!I saw this first in the movie theatre with my parents and then grew up watching this over the years. It was along with An American Christmas Carol, my favorite version. I had it for many years on VHS and replaced it with DVD this year. A must see for dark humor and great music!
Scrooge w/Albert Finney January 7, 2009 This is a fabulous musical rendition of the Dickens Classic that has played in our house every Christmas since I discovered it. As the children grew and left home, they each requested a copy. For anyone who likes a good musical--and even those who don't--this is a great movie.
A Classic January 7, 2009 The muscial scrooge is an enjoyable, humorous, Christmas classic that we watch every year as part of our Christmas eve tradition. As we've given it to our friends and family, they too have made it part of their family tradition as well. Incredible music that you will find yourself singing to yourself at odd times of the year. Acting and screenplay convey both the joy and tragedy of Dickens stories. It's a great tool to help those that can't quite get the "Christmas Spirit" to lighten up and enjoy humanity.
Finally January 7, 2009 Exactly what I wanted and could not find in store. Product arrived quickly and undamaged. Extremely pleased
Scrooge with Albert Finney January 7, 2009 Love this version of the movie! I always waited for it to come on tv every year when I was younger, so it's great to finally own it on dvd! Great price too!!
