5 out of 5 stars Excellent: music, interpretation and show   December 8, 2008
Andre Rieu is a master in performing easy to listen clasical music. It is entertainment for the entire family. Very good to introduce kids to classical music. Children sarting their life listening to these marvelous Strauss melodies masterfully and skilfully presented by Rieu, will be on the way to enjoy music for their entire life.

5 out of 5 stars Passing Andre Rieu through the generations   December 2, 2008
I first experienced an Andre Rieu concert through PBS. I ordered "Live in Vienna" to share with my grandson, who is only three. He now LOVES Andre Rieu. He has learned all the instruments, stands on the table and conducts, and watches the two hour "Live In Vienna" in its entirety, (2hrs) several times a week. He enjoys watching the DVD by himself. Because it has become a passion of his, he is getting a violin and bow for Christmas, just to pretend, and to learn to respect the instrument. No doubt this will be his favorite present. His interest is sustained, and he recognizes certain music by name and knows his favorites, It has been a gift to me and unexpectedly a gift to my grandson. Thank-you Andre for the beauty and for winning over the sensitivity of children. Carol Price

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing, but for the Best Reasons   October 17, 2008

The performance maintains Rieu's high standard. The problem is that the DVD is only 58 minutes long. Compare that to the Vienna DVD which is over 2 hours long. If you are a Rieu fan, as I am, you want more. For the money, you should get more.

5 out of 5 stars Andre Rieu's love for Johann Strauss   April 23, 2008

I own a few of Andre Rieu's DVDs. In my opinion, this is one of his best. He takes care to explain the background of Strauss' music, music that has enchanted millions of listeners for decades. I am grateful that this musician dedicates himself to the resurrection of Strauss'immortal music and his DVDs are excellent, with the exception of his Flying Dutchman, which is complicated by having to switch to the second page of the DVD. There are some I would not buy, i.e.the DVD music from Tuscany, and some where he simply strays off his musical focus by introducing too many side shows. His strength lies in the purity of adhering to the music of Johann Strauss.
