1 out of 5 stars Rather Disappointed   July 23, 2008

I ordered this Alaska magazine hoping it would have many topics I could use to plan a motorcycle trip to our huge state. But like so many other magazines nowadays, you pay for reading material and get only commercial advertisements. Total waste of money!! You may as well send them a check and tell them to keep their magazine! Very little if anything was useful to me!

    1 out of 5 stars How would I know?   March 20, 2006

How would I know how the magazine is since it has been paid for and I have not received a copy yet? I think that it is a little presumptious of anyone to ask until the appropriate time! After I have had the opportunity to read and review the magazine, feel free to ask my opinion at that time.

5 out of 5 stars If you have any interest in Alaska, subsribe to this magazine   September 20, 2005

Each month I read this magazine cover to cover. Ten years ago, I fell in love with Alaska on my "once in a lifetime" trip. Now I am on my 12th visit to the state and hope to find a way to continue visiting. This magazine helps me make it to the next trip and gives me more and more ideas about what to do when I am in the state.

The magazine is great collection of fiction, shorts and feature stories that truly let you know what it is like to live in Alaska. It's as close as an out of stater can come to being a resident.

As well as good writing, each issue brings tons of beautiful images. If you know someone who is planning on visiting Alaska, think about getting them a gift subscription to Alaska magazine. I can guarantee they will appreciate it. Just be careful, Alaska is as adictive as nicotine.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Coverage Of Our Biggest And Most Beautiful State   July 12, 2004

I have loved Alaska since the first time I visited the state in 1992. I have been back many times since, and attempt to visit at least once a year. "Alaska" magazine is an excellent way to keep informed about happenings in the state, especially when you can't be there personally. The articles are well written and interesting, and focus, as you would expect, is on the breathtaking outdoors, and outdoor activities. Local history, politics, and environmental issues are also well represented, as are amusing human interest stories.

Because I am a frequent visitor, I also use the advertisements heavily. Normally I don't like ads, but the places and things I have discovered thanks to ads in "Alaska" magazine alone make the price of the subscription worthwhile.

For a witty, entertaining, and educational look at our biggest (and I think most beautiful) state, "Alaska" magazine can't be beat!
