Amazon.com No Name Face is an auspicious debut from a band seemingly made to rule the airwaves. The insinuating melodies that mark Lifehouse's radio-friendly sound are not unlike those of matchbox twenty or Live in their softer moments. From the first single, "Hanging by a Moment," to the emotive and uplifting "Quasimodo" and the wonderful "Trying" (think Crowded House at their lilting best), Lifehouse are self-possessed and focused. Young singer-songwriter Jason Wade (the son of two ministers) imbues Lifehouse's vibe with a spiritual quality that's never heavy-handed, delivering the goods with the authority of an experienced troubadour. No Name Face may be a first offering from a young band, but it looks to signal the beginning of an estimable career. --Katherine Turman

A Five Star CD!! December 1, 2008 This is a five star CD if I've ever heard one.The music and lyrics are incredible. From the very first song "Hanging By A Moment",which is great, the music does not disappoint.I like "Unknown", "Sick Cycle Carousel", "Trying", "Someone Else's Song", and "Hanging By A Moment" very much. It's worth getting!!
Came on time November 2, 2008 Worship. Purchased the CD for the Everything Lifehouse skit. Came on time and was what I expected.
One of those few artists/bands that actually move you. August 20, 2008 Okay chances are you either heard the song "Hanging By A Moment" on the radio or you probably saw the buzzballads commercial like I did. And chances are you think no song could top it off...but believe me there are plenty that do and this is coming from a pessimist.
1)hanging by a moment: not gonna get too into it. one of those songs you love at the first listen and that you just wanna play over and over. that and what made the band big when it debuted
2)sick cycle carousel: good song to come after HBAM. starts off nice and then gets into it. pretty good song. didnt get as much success radiowise but still one of the more radio friendly songs.
3)Unknown: pretty good song. however though its not one of the ones i listen to the most. although it is still worth listening to.
4)Someone else's song: one of those songs that take a little longer to really like. but trust me eventualy it will grow on you. best way to describe it is like someone in a journey through a weird dream. you have to listen to it and youll get what i mean
5)Trying: Another one I dont listen to that much but still dont mind hearing when i wanna listen to the whole album.
6)Only One: This one should have come after Simon. but anyway, it has a nice sort of feel. Like after the sad kind of songs where you need something to kind of brighten the mood. This is one of those songs I listen more to on this album
7)Simon: Definately one of the most moving songs Ive ever heard and its not necessarily cause of the lyrics. The background music and how it builds up just moves you emotionally and the lyrics match it perfectly. Even if youve never been an outkast or been bullied, it still makes you feel like theres someone else whos been through the same and reaching out their hand. Only thing Id change about the song is when Jason forgets some of the lyrics and kind of murmurs through it for a few seconds. But even that doesnt take away from the song.
8)Cling and Clatter: Never really been too fond of the intro and still dont like it that much but its not so bad once you get used to it. Pretty good song and the body of it definately makes up for the noisy intro. Then again that matches the name "cling and clatter".
9)Breathing: One of the other singles from the album. This one just like some of the other songs on here kind of moves you inside. Hard to describe it but it has a very nice feel to it.
10)Quasimodo: Had Simon had a video to it, this one wouldve HAD to have been the Part 2 to it. Where Simon is more about when youre down and trying to get up, this one is more of the "i have my own self worth" and sort of standing up for yourself kind of song. It will make sense when you listen to it.
11)Somewhere in between: This is one of those songs that most people will either skip cause of the intro or that they will absolutely love. Best way to describe it is like when you move to a new place to start a new life but you miss part of what youre leaving and sort of reminiscing about the past. Good enough for like a slow dance kind of song.
12)Everything: This comes to prove that whats on the radio isnt always the best music. Now I know i said this with other songs but with this one it actually does build up to a climax in the song. I can picture lots of religious people like in those christian rock commercials where they are moved spiritually. Sure the song could have been shorter by a verse, but it just wouldnt be the same.
I just cant rate the songs and they are in almost perfect order(Only One should be #7 and simon shouldve been #6) and as hard as it will be to believe the first time you listen to it that HBAM isnt the best song on the album, its true. The first time you listen to it it will be the best song, but really listen to the album more and it will grow on you and you will change your mind. I dont usually listen to albums completely and Im pretty pessimistic, but even I can agree that this album is amazing and that is worth your purchase.
songs Youll probably like first 1)hanging by a moment 2)sick cycle carousel 3)simon 4)somewhere in between 5)everything
the other songs will soon grow on you.
No Name Face August 7, 2008 A friend turned me on to Lifehouse a few months ago, when all i really knew from them was the song "Hanging by a Moment." She really seemed to love them, so i decided to pick up this cd. And dang she was right.
Not only is this cd home to catchy songs like the beloved Hanging by a Moment, but it also has more reflective songs on it such as Breathing and Everything. It really is not a very happy album, and it has a sort of melancholy feel, but its still a very good musical offering.
Any of the people who say this is too mellow or too basic of music are obviously either close minded or just musical idiots. Sure the songwriting is simple, but there is layers upon layers of texture that create a wall of sound. and if its too mellow for you, you just need to open your mind and diversify.
This is a great album, so go and buy it.
A-mazing July 16, 2008 I'm a pretty big music buff, and I have to say that No Name Face is my favorite album in the world. Every track is worth listening to a million times -- if you like anything of Lifehouse's (or the Goo Goo Dolls and the like), you'll fall in love with Jason Wade and the boys if you just give this a try.
