Combining the effervescent Olsen twins with the sizzling popularity of a Survivor-style reality show, The Challenge is a seemingly perfect concoction for Mary Kate and Ashley fans. In this G-rated jaunt, the perky twins play Shane and Lizzie, two estranged sisters who are unwittingly cast together to compete as teammates in seven grueling contests. Residing on separate coasts after their parent's divorce, the girls are polar opposites: Lizzie is ambitious and high-strung, while Shane is a tree-hugging vegetarian. Now in Mexico, they will eat, sleep, and socialize as one while a ruthless producer hopes the ensuing sibling controversy will spike the show's ratings. Amid the daring feats and romantic entanglements, the twins realize that their greatest challenge will be to accept each other's differences. If viewers overlook the painfully contrived plot and deplorable acting, the result is a clean, family film that goes no deeper than a pretty face. (Ages 7 to 12) --Lynn Gibson

5 out of 5 stars Let The Games Begin!   September 7, 2007
Teen superstars Mary-Kate and Ashley take sibling rivalry to a whole new level in their latest The Challenge, playing estranged sisters who are total opposites.

Ambitious, uptight Lizzie(Ashley Olsen) and laid-back tree-hugger Shane(Mary-Kate Olsen) have to learn to live - and work - together as a team on a popular TV reality adventure show. A college scholarship is the prize at stake. Will the show's producers use sibling rivalry as a ratings tactic? Will this bring the girls closer or push them apart forever?

Shot in a scenic Mexican resort in Cabo San Lucas, this light-hearted comedy/adventure is the final entry in Mary-Kate and Ashley's successful series of video and DVD movies, before they continue their big-screen careers in 2004.

    5 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   November 28, 2005

This movie is probably the best Mary-Kate and Ashley movie ever made. It is about twins (obviously) that moved away from each other due to parent relocation. They both want to be on a reality game show to get a chance for a college scolorship, but don't know that eachother will be there. They end up being on the same team, and keep losing the events because all they do is fight. They soon realize that they have to get along to win. They make a comeback, and both the teams become tied. I won't give away the ending because it is so great. GO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars The BEST!   November 18, 2005

Excuse me, for those people who think that this movie is lame, not worth watching and ... ,you guys are wrong! You should focus on the good points of the movie, not the bad ones! And all in all, I would say that this movie is the best Mary-Kate and Ashley movie I've seen so far!The Challenge had so many phases which was exciting, and thumbs up for all the great extras! The personalities were split into suitable ones for each character! For example, Kelly was overly confident and she played her part very well! I feel that this movie has an original twist from the other movies. This is the best piece of work done by Craig Shapiro. If you are one of the people who hate this movie and are reading my review, I suggest you compare YOURSELF with Mary-Kate and Ashley! you know why i'm sayin this? cuz if you are saying that they suck, you are lookin down on them, which means you think you are better than them! Well, prove it! I am actually not a fan, but I think that the movies made by MK and A are splendid! So there!Think twice about your bad comments! And those who have not watched this movie yet, do NOT lose the chance!

1 out of 5 stars MaryKate and ashley aren't nice!   October 28, 2005

I just saw this movie in school last week and I thought it was lame and too mean! In one scene, where the Olsens and a couple of other people are mountain climbing... This innocent guy falls off the mountain and MaryKate and Ashley SLAP A HIGH FIVE! Real nice...(shoves my finger in my throat!) If you parents want your kids to listen to good role models that don't smile at other people's pains, I reccomend "The Magical Forest" and "Smurfs!"
