good October 8, 2008 I like the way they have the Bible divided. But when you go from day to day, sometimes I get confused and lost in the New Testament and have to look back on the previous day. It's a good way to get through the Bible in a year though.
One of the best Kindle Bibles available July 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're looking for a Bible for the Kindle for regular structured reading, this one is a winner.
The translation is very readable. It is a devotional translation, not a "Study Bible" or scholarly translation.
For a Kindle book, the format is excellent. It is laid out with daily readings by date. Each day has an Old Testament and New Testament selection, followed by a Psalm and a Proverb or two.
The selections provide a sequential Genesis through Revelation trip through the Bible in one year plus the books of Psalms & Proverbs in digestible hunks. (One of my problems with most "Bible in a Year" schemes is that they insist on reading Proverbs in huge unrelieved daily hunks, guaranteed to give you mental and spiritual indigestion).
The readings are footnoted in Kindle hyperlinks for alternate readings and explanations of where the reader friendly translation substitutes a modern equivalent for such things as ancient Hebrew dates and the like.
I only wish that where the New Testament quotes the Old Testament the hyperlink gave not only the citation in the footnote (which it does), but also hyperlinked the actual OT passage cited. (The New International Version Kindle edition does both, which is very handy.)
I only wish there were a Catholic edition of this One Year Bible, with the pseudographical/apochryphal books of the Catholic canon included. Alas, so far the only Catholic Bible of any type available for the Kindle is the dated (and terribly formated) Rheims/Douay.
So glad I purchased this! June 29, 2008 For my regular Bible reading I love the NLT. Since this was the only kindle NLT Bible I decided I'd have to make do with this 1 year version. Now don't get me wrong, I love a daily Bible reading plan and have used various plans for many years. In addition to the daily format you'd expect, the toc has links to each Old and New Testament book but also links to the books by alpha order. What this enables the user to do is to turn easily to a specific passage without having to know what day that passage is on. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Good daily reading June 16, 2008 This is a pretty good version of the One Year Bible. I have been using the print version for years and just recently switched to the Kindle version. The only nice-to-have additional thing I would say would be a more indexed search or table of contents. You can navigate by day (which is obviously the point of a One Year Bible) but there is a teaser in the sense you can go to the first chapter of any book via the TOC. It wouldn't take much to just have this be a One Year Bible and one for general reading...
one year bible June 6, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The bible seemed new, however there was a name written inside on top of the first page in ink and I had to use a liquid paper to erase the name. It didn't look very nice. The seller said that the bible was brand new without any writing in it. Well, it wasn't true.
