Beware of "liberals" bearing footnotes September 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This bible is not worth the money in my opinion. I did give it 3 stars because of the included study resources (which are not readily found in other NASB bible translations) and because the type is generally easy to read, at least in the bible portion.
Now the bad:
First, the "leather" cover appears to be bonded leather--if it's not, it might as well be as it's thin and has the same crinkle finish as bonded leather. It certainly does not look like it will hold up in the long term.
Second, the binding appears to be glued-not something one should get in a $50+ bible in my opinion.
Third, the pages are quite thin, and the text on the reverse side often can be seen.
Fourth, I don't think enough words are highlighted with reference numbers (the reference numbers allow one to look up the words in the included Hebrew/Greek dictionaries). Because of this, anyone but the casual reader will likely become frustrated very quickly when trying to study bible passages in Greek/Hebrew.
Fifth, and worst of all, the person(s) writing the footnotes obviously have a (liberal) worldview and agenda that they want to advance, as the footnotes to some biblical passages often strain common sense and plain meaning such that even a babe in Christ can see through the sophistry. See, for example, the full page (!) footnote on I Corinthians 14:34-35.
If you are interested in becoming a true disciple of Christ and want to know your role in God's creation (hint: you must first give up any "rights" you think you have to do or say whatever you want wherever you want) you can do better than this Bible--check out Ryrie's, Scofield's or John McArthur's study bibles in the NASB translation. The KJV is fine if you like olde English, and the ESV is OK too.
Convenient August 29, 2008 It's great having the Strong's and other references all in one volume, but best of all is the insights into the culteral meanings of so many Bible words.
Great Reference Bible July 24, 2008 This is one of the best study Bibles I've seen. I've had it a month or so and have used it a lot for classes and others are very interested in getting one. I've put little post its in the back so I can easily get to the reference section - the pages are very thin.
Just the right one for me May 19, 2008 It is an All-in-one for me. The notes and contents are very helpful and a "Ready Access" for the one that studies it. This will really make one's progression sure if studied very carefully. The work is a Masterpiece.
Every Believer should have access to a Hebrew-Greek Lexical Aid! April 28, 2008 Great tool. Useful commentary & Lexical Aids! Def. recommend it for better study!
