Very Useful Facsimile July 28, 2008 I have this facsimile reproduction, and find it highly readable and very useful. The binding is outstanding and should hold up to years of use. I was disappointed to find that the text had been reset in Roman type, however. I have a PDF file of an original 1611 edition set in Black (Gothic) type. It, however, is not always readable in all places, as the copy it was made from had seen a lot of wear over the centuries. Does anyone know of an AFFORDABLE facsimile in Black Type? I know of some very expensive ones, but none in my price range, unfortunately.
Taken as a whole, however, this is a beautiful volume.
a masterpiece June 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
the original 1611 edition is a treasure, though i personally prefer the new international version..the 1611 version is the original and all christians should own a copy.Though the language is difficult and outdated, this book has great historic value and should be cherished..
interesting study March 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first this looks like it will be hard to read, but it is really quite easy after you read it and get use to the different spelling of the words. I enjoy reading it. Mary
Please take the time to read this. March 20, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
While "1611 Edition" is stamped on the cover and "A reprint of the edition of 1611" is above the Hendrickson Publisher's address inside the front page, we find on page 53 is stated that this work is a line for line reprint of a more recent 1833 edition. This is no more of a 1611 Edition than any Authorized KJV on the planet today. With this sales gimmick they could have put "1611 Edition" on any KJV they sell, and with this they did.
Being what it is on the inside, an 1883 reprint, it is a good book but stamping it with "1611 Edition" is misleading and just plain wrong.
The King James February 22, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Amazing to see for myself what the King James Text really says. After years of searching through the new "translations" or versions it is refreshing to finally see the authorized version for what it is. This is in a gothic style text so it takes getting used to for those who have been so used to the roman type that we are so used to today.
