The Prodigal Comes Home May 1, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I could not put the book down and considering I can't remember the last time I actually read a book cover to cover that is saying alot.
This is a story about an individual that could have been any one of us. He had some thing happen to him in his childhood and when he was exposed to a prescription pain killer he was able to escape for a period of time only to find out that it would soon control his life.
If you have never been touched by addiction in your family you can not relate but if you read his story you will fully understand what happens to someone who's life is controlled by a drug. Thank God that he did find help and now is able to give hope to others that there is life after drugs. It took courage to reveal what happened and fully expose himself to help others.
Thanks Michael for sharing your story. You made a difference in my life.

The Prodigal Comes Home
Amzing Book. Very well written. A story of grace and mercy that you will not soon forget.
An intriguing story April 2, 2007 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Michael English's autobiography follows his rise in contemporary Christian music, then his spectacular downfall after an affair with a married Christian musician. It's a story of redemption and healing, and is quite a riveting read. However, at 220 pages, the story winds up feeling a bit brief. Certain periods in Michael's life seemed to be glossed over, and even his recording career gets short shrift. If you're looking as to why he chose certain songs or for any insight on the making of his albums, you won't get much information here. Still, it's a compelling story, and he confronts his demons (drug addiction, the affair) with a admirable honesty.
A must read March 27, 2007 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Whether you are a fan of Michael English's music or a skeptic, there is no denying the power of God's grace in his story. Michael is candidly honest about his struggles and his failures. His story is at times heart-warming and funny; Then,heart-wrenching and sad. In the end, though, it is an inspirational story of restoration and "second chances". This is a must read.
