Concrete help in building a family faith life June 27, 2003 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Not having grown up with the practice of any faith, learning how to make faith an integral part of my children's lives has been challenging, but finding Faith & Family has been a great help. From hints for rich celebrations of the Church year (including recipes and crafts) to family projects and recommendations for family entertainment, Faith & Family shows realistic ways to build traditions and bring the faith alive in family life. And there's more. Faith & Family provides thought-provoking articles about marriage, parenting, the spiritual life, and contemporary culture, all in a beautifully photographed magazine. It is a joy to receive.
The best Catholic magazine out there! March 2, 2003 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
As a professional magazine journalist and Catholic convert, I was disappointed with the quality of many Christian/Catholic publications. I understood it, though -- to save money, you have to scrimp on paper grade, photography, writers' salaries, etc. Well, if any corners have been cut in this magazine, I can't find them. What I do find, though, is thick, glossy paper, gorgeous photography, terrific ideas for living the liturgical year with your family, and great writing. This is one of the only magazines I read cover-to-cover as soon as it hits the mail slot. It will surpass your expectations, guaranteed!
Married or Single/Engaged...you'll feel proud to be Catholic February 14, 2003 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Our family discovered this magazine 3 years ago, and found ourselves marveling at the life stories of real families, overviews of resources for any family and especially the section which describes weekly at least the history of courageous men/women of the Faith (aka the Saints!) We could start groups of families who read this magazine...We have in Gaithersburg, MD! Meeting each other we marvel at the good, and have a positive idea to share with each other/our husbands/families.
Intelligent, warm --and you won't believe how beautiful! February 12, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Ever feel disappointed in the saccharine quality of products aimed at Christians? Faith & Family is a refreshing change of pace -- a beautifully photographed, intelligently written, insightful and useful magazine for Catholic and Christian families. You'll find articles to enrich your marriage and home life, insights into child-rearing at various stages, tips on bringing the feasts and fasts of the liturgical year alive in your home, practical answers to your questions about how to live the faith, plus crafts, recipes, book and music reviews and more. All from a deeply Christian perspective that is smart, positive, hopeful, warm, witty --but not syrupy. And you really won't believe the photography. Worth every penny!
Practical, elegant, worthwhile resource May 31, 2002 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a magazine that will help you to incorporate your Catholic beliefs more fully into your daily life, Faith and Family would be a worthwhile addition to your family library. I eagerly await each issue, and I find the entertainment recommendations and seasonal guide to the liturgical calendar to be extremely useful tools in creating a truly Catholic family life and home. In addition, I appreciate the lovely, inspiring illustrations and photographs. Also, the advertisements and referenced websites have supplied me with a great deal of helpful material as I strive to create a true domestic church for my husband, son, and extended family. While I do not find the magazine "shallow," it is true that many of the articles are brief and to the point, enabling the busy reader (even a never-stop stay-at-home mom like myself) to keep abreast of new developments related to our beloved faith. By all means, supplement this lovely magazine with a variety of Catholic and secular reading material to satisfy all facets of your desire for knowledge, but recognize that this magazine does what it does very well.
