5 out of 5 stars listen to the whole thing   January 12, 2001

third day went a slightly different direction with this one (which they kind of continued with offerings) after two hard rocking albums they toned it down a bit with this one. Third Days 1st showed their talent, but was really more of a collection of songs that kinda showed off their various abilities. Not much of a theme but it made for a great listen. Conspiracy was a little more thematic, but often came off as angry and I wasn't exactly sure what they were trying to say with some of the songs. (mind you i don't mean to knock either album, both made for a great listen) Time however, really comes off great as a whole. There aren't really any standout songs, but the whole album just flows real well and there are no weak songs. Lyrically, they've gone past the preachiness that accompanied their earlier works and really hit on a different them and a different level. Now, if you're looking for another hit rocker along the lines of "Consuming Fire" or "Alien" you won't find it, nor will you find any one song as beautiful as "Love Song." You will however find an album that really comes together as a whole and delivers a tremendous message. i hope that more Christian artists will produce work of this quality.

5 out of 5 stars My All Time Favorite CD   January 11, 2001
This is the greatest compulation of music on one CD that I have ever heard. With most music, if you listen to it long enough, you'll eventually get tired of it. I have owned this CD for months and listen to it nearly every day and enjoy it more today than I did when I first bought it. Outstanding!!!

Third Day music touches the heart and soul like no other. Their mix of upbeat contemporary songs and worship songs lift you up. I bought this CD and it has been a staple of my listening experience ever since the purchase, and I am not about to stop listening to it. Listen and love and be touched by the awesome message in the words of these songs.

In Time, Third Day continues its tradition of releasing quality, God-centered music. Anyone who has listened to Third Day before knows that their actual music is so amazing that it would be great in an instrumental-only release. However, add to that the deep, often Scripture-inspired lyrics and you get Third Day.

This release is no different. In my opinion, this is by far their best album. There is a good mix of fast and slow songs with the core message being the same throughout - seek God and Christ.

My favorite track on the CD is "What Good". This track emphasizes that it does man (and woman, to be politically correct) no good to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul (Luke 9). Another Scripture inspired track worth mentioning is "Your Love Oh Lord" (Psalm 36) which is also phenomenal. Actually, now that I'm writing this, nearly every track on this CD is amazing. As another reviewer mentioned, there are no songs on this album that are "filler songs". And, in my opinion, that's the way it ought to be if you are representing God. There should never be "filler" songs, time, or anything else.

So the question...should you spend your money to get this album? Without a doubt I recommend it! Spend your money and enjoy this album. Peace. ~Andy

5 out of 5 stars There is a reason this CD won a Dove Award   November 6, 2000

I had fun surfing through about 80+ reviews before writing mine. It usually takes me several months at getting around to writing, and by then the artists are usually releasing their next project. Such is the case with Third Day. Have you checked out "Offerings" yet ("Wow!")? Also, listen to their contributions on the "City on a Hill" various artist project (another "Wow!").

Well, this is not about "Offerings" or a "City on a Hill." It is about "Time" (please pardon the pun). If I gage the feelings from 80+ other reviews, this album has a majority vote for best record yet by Third Day. I tend to agree. It is, dare I say it, a very mature effort by a young yet veteran rock band (you can be a young veteran). After all, "Time" is only their third CD.

The strength of this CD lies in the talents of this gifted group of guys. The instrumentation and vocalization are nothing short of wonderful. The production is smooth. Don't you like how well the songs flow from one to another? The guest players and singers further enhance the mix, but the stars are the guys in the band itself. Of course, Mac Powell's vocals are the glue that brings the whole Third Day sound together.

Once again, Third Day does not hide its feelings for God. While not every single song worships God, the theme of the album guides the listener through Christ-centered thoughts and feelings. The lyrics are well written, and the music continues the typical strong melodic rock ... Third Day's signature sound.

It is kind of fun listening to them play with some different sounds without compromising who they are. This album's style is not as edgy as "Conspiracy #5," but I feel it is more relaxed and much closer to the real Third Day. If anything, it may be a lot closer to "Third Day" (the first album) in style. As much as I like hard music, I felt like "Conspiracy #5" was somewhat forced and unlike a style suitable for Third Day. They were able to pull it off because they are talented, but they need to be more flexible like what they are here with "Time."

My copy of this CD probably has a hole burned through it by now as often as I have played it. Although I have the other CD's, I kind of went kind of backwards with Third Day. I fell in love with "Time" first before going back and listening more to "Conspiracy #5" and "Third Day." These guys have been a good band for awhile now.

If you ever bother to read all the way through this long review, I hope it will encourage you to listen to "Time." It truly is a really good rock and roll album. It would be hard to find a better one in this genre of mainstream pop rock.
