Kutless ALWAYS rocks! September 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Kutless has some of the best contemporary Christian music around. This is their newest CD and it ROCKS! Praising Jesus with Kutless touches my soul- just listen to the lyrics; they are JESUS, straight up.
best yet August 14, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The best cd kutless has made yet. they intoduce some great guitar riffs and solos(which were lacking in the past) with the usual amazing lyrics. this album just seems to mesh better and it doesnt get old.
Where's the rest? August 8, 2008 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is the second Kutless cd I've purchased and I must say I like them both. However, I just have one question. Where is the other half? My new Kutless cd only has 40:57 minutes of 80 available minutes of music. How come the Christian Hip Hoppers manage to cram 60-80 minutes of music on their new cd's and the Christian rockers only give us 40-50? I hate to think you guys are ripping me off intentionally. Maybe Kutless just gets tired quickly or the recording session took them past their bedtimes. Come on now! Start a new trend! Give us a complete effort! I'll be praying for you.
Great album!! August 2, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been a fan of Kutless since their first self-titled album in 2002. Since then, I've bought all of their studio albums and each one has been quite amazing. I think it is funny how people are complaining about this album being to short, when most of their prior albums haven't been any longer. Here is my breakdown of the songs.
1. "The Feeling" - 2:24 - 5 stars - A short upbeat track. 2. "Sleeping City" - 1:10 - 4 stars - short piano track that leads nicely into track 3. 3. "To Know That You're Alive" - 3:15 - 5 stars - I really enjoy this song. 4. "The Disease & The Cure" - 3:51 - 5 stars - My favorite song off the album, has an awesome breakdown and rift at 2:36. 5. "Complete" - 3:42 - 5 stars - Maybe it will be overplayed, but it is a great song. 6. "The Rescue" - 4:05 - 5 stars - Has some sweet parts through out it! 7. "Promise You" - 3:34 - 4 stars 8. "Guiding Me Home" - 3:05 - 5 stars - Classic Kutless soft song! 9. "Overcoming Me" - 2:59 - 4 stars 10. "I Do Not Belong" - 3:00 - 5 stars 11. "Loud" - 2:35 - 5 stars - I love how this song starts, though I do think they could have made this song even better. 12. "Dying To Become" - 3:57 - 5 stars 13. "You" - 3:14 - 5 stars
Finally after a 6 year wait, a good Rock Release August 1, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Overall, this is a pretty good offering. I was a little hesitant to purchase especially since their last two rock releases overall were disappointing. `Hearts of the innocent' was less than memorable and `Sea of Faces' while producing a great title song, overall was hit and miss. I find myself continually going back to their debut release over and over as it simply represents great music/lyrics with superb hard rock hooks. (Note while 'Strong Tower' will continue be the music the masses focus on, to me it doesn't really count as a release especially since it came out at a time when everyone and their grandmother was releasing a praise CD.)
Lyrics are pretty much straight up which is what you would expect from a band made up of active God-pleasing followers of Christ. It's unknown why there are so many bands out there that claim the same allegiance and yet have so little hint of Christ in their lyrics. Thankfully, Kutless has taken the time to craft lyrics worthy of their calling.
Musically, it is very good and represents great progress from their debut CD (6 years ago). Many songs sound very similar to Nickelback while others have a hint of Extreme, `3 Sides to Every Story.'
Best tunes musically are The Feeling and To Know You're Alive and its prelude Sleeping City. Note, this isn't a CD to put on shuffle, though if you are ripping it, feel free to uncheck Promise You, Overcoming Me, and You. That said, best tunes lyrically are The Disease & The Cure, Complete and I Do Not Belong.
For me, it all comes together on "The Rescue."
"My life is a mass destruction/You're pulling me from the mess I'm in/You take me away/There's glass in the air I'm breathing/Somehow my heart keeps beating till/You take me away"
The next AC hit to follow `Sea of Faces' appears to be `I Do Not Belong' which is another strong declaration of our position in, but not of this world.
It's hard to have a release with non-stop great tunes and this release is no exception. For an exception, see the 2002 debut release by Kutless.
