Not worth the money, AT ALL January 19, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My 6 year old was begging me for a guitar. I bought some basic childrens instructional aides, as well as this guitar. She was beyond thrilled when it arrived. I play the guitar myself, and was curious to see if I got my monies worth. In fact, I did. I spent little, and I received little.
Every time the guitar was played, I had to retune it. Sometimes more than once during a session. The strings are very low quality, and broke after the second week of playing. I tried to restring the guitar, but even with good strings, it was not made well enough to keep the strings in place for more than a day before having to retune.
Were it not for the strings busting out all over the place, I would have just given this to my younger son to play around on, but it proved itself a safety hazard as well.
If you are interested in really getting your child into music, don't go the cheap route. Buy a quality made instrument that will last them through their lessons, NOT a cheap item that will only be a source of frustration leading them to hate music.
This is a toy January 1, 2005 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
reader, if you want a guitar that is for a 2-5 year old kid, buy this. But if the person really wants to play the guitar, don't buy this one. If your child wants to play the the guitar, start him out on acoustic because that is how all the famous guitar players started.(eric clapton, Led Zeplin....) I have been playing guitar for a year and I still am not expierenced enough to play electric guitar. I guess if your kid does not want to learn but just wants to try to learn by him or herself, do not buy because playing guitar is extremely hard. RE: this is poor quality
DON"T BUY IT!!!( I am 32, I didn't want spammers getin my EM December 4, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The is a toy. I bought it for my son who is 6. I have been a guitarist since I was about 11. When ever my buddies come over and we play, he always listens to us wide eyed. I play electric, but I learned on acoustic. They acoustic I learned on is an adult full size, which I use acasionalaly. I wanted to get him one, I stoped at Wal MArt. Theirs were cheap and not real instruments. I stoped at the music store where I bought most of my guitars. They didn't cary anything that I liked. Either to expensive, or not good enough quality. I qent to toys r us. I grabed that guitar. It was getting late, so I didn't check it. When I got home I was about to tune it. I planed to in the morning put it next to his bed. It was untunable, aful condition, and missing frets.
A CHEAP TOY (i AM 13) November 26, 2004 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
ANYONE WHO TRYS TO TELL THEIR CHILD THAT THIS PIECE OF JUNK IS A INSTRUMENT AND NOT A TOY NEEDS TO RELIZE THAT IT IS A TOY. YOU BUY IT AT A TOY STORE. IT FALLS APART. THEY PERSON WHO WROTE "a disapointed 14 year old" WAS RIGHT. IT IS FUN TO BREAK. I BOUGHT MINE. WHEN I TUNED IT THE NECK BENT. I CAN PULL THEY NECK UP AND DOWN.. IT IS HALF OFF. I BROPUGHT IT TO THE GUITAR STORE WHERE I BOUGHT MY Jasmine AND THEY SIAD THAT THEY REFUSE TO TOUCH THE GUITAR. THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD A FEW POEPLE RECENTLY THEY GOT SEVERLY CUT ON THEIR FACE FROM THE NECK CUTING THEM. IT WILL NEVER STAYIN TUNE. I DID WHAT "the dissapointed 14 year old" DID. I DESTROYED IT.
A disapointed 14 year old. November 18, 2004 I stumed the 2 high strings broke. I restrung it and the middle string snaped. The Pick guard feel of when I opened it. I noticed that the frets are stickers. I started to inspect it and when I licked my fingers the cheap paint came off. I was so mas. I took a bucket of water and poured it on it. All the paint came off. I relized it was cut by a saw. When you tryed to tune it it just bent the neck, the neck is made out of ply wood. It was so dinged up when I bought it. I do have other guitars, I bought this for a travel one. When the neck bends it makes all the other stings untned. DONT BUY THIS!!! Half of my plastic tuners fell off. The bottom part that holds the strings is half off. I only have half of my sticker frets. The neck is glued to the guitar. I had glue all over the bottom of the neck. The thing that hols the strap fell off. Most of these things happened when it came out of the box. I finaly decided after my inspection and the out of the box condition, and the things that would happen with normal play that it should be destroyed. First I took a bucket of water and poured it on it. All the paint came off. Literaly all off it. All that was left was the crpy ply wood. It was mad out of so so so cheap plywood. Do you know when you get plywood that is so tine you can pok you finger on it and it makes a dent. When I poked another light time it whent thru. I used it for the roof on my fort, cause that is all it is worth. After a rain storm it started to get messed up. The plywood is made of like what happens when water goes on sheetrock. The rest of it i burnt, which lit in a fireplace the instant it went in. The only fun part was the destructive part. Don't buy it. (...) Parents it is good for little kids because they can and will pound on it and it will break. (...) it was so fun to destroy it. Do not get it. I wrote the same review for the other acustic guitar on this site. The reason I gave this one a 4 for fun because It was fun to destroy it. I whent to tos r us to see if all of them where that bad, and my was good. Some the necks werent even attached, some were mising frets somewere missing tuners, some had be cracked.
