3 out of 5 stars Nice but needs more care coming off the assembly line   December 11, 2007

WE bought this guitar for my 6 year old. We waited far too long to finally open the box. In perfect condition it would have been gorgeous. I don't know the exact lingo, but the metals bars that go across the stem of the guitar overlapped the edges (that run in the opposite direction of the strings) were very, very sharp- my husband had to shave them down so my son would not cut himself. There were sanding marks ON the body of the guitar which was noticable (marred the otherwise gorgeous shiny black exterior), my husband said it must have been Friday at the end of the day when the guitar was made- someone was in a huge hurry. There was also a crack in it, noticable- altho it went all the way through the paint it did not extend into the wood part of the guitar. WE were so bummed. Otherwise a gleaming, gorgeous guitar. It was far too close to (the night before) his birthday before we opened the box and regret waiting that long. We could have sent it back. As this was his only gift from us, we decided to give him the guitar as is. Even he noticed the blemishes- but he loved it so much that he chose to overlook it.

It sounds great however! And it was nice that it came with virtually everything you need to get started! We loved that this guitar was jet black and just looked diff than the usual brown colors.

Despite the blemishes, it is a lovely little guitar. I would recommend this guitar WITH some advice. Order it in advance if buying as a gift. Inspect it immediately so that you can send it back, if need be.

5 out of 5 stars A good for adult women, too   November 20, 2007

I bought this guitar for my 10 year old son. But I think this one can be replaceble to my old acoustic guitar, since I can play even better with this one. The strings are not too tight for kids to play code F. This is a very beautiful piece with a nice case. It is perfect!

This guitar is for our 18 year old daughter. She is enjoying it and the quality seems to be good. She is small so likes the smaller size, too.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Guitar   May 22, 2007

This is an excellent guitar for beginners. I enjoy playing it and it is very comfortable. It comes with picks, extra strings, straps and a gig bag. It is the perfect size for a smaller person, and it doesnt weigh over me, so I'm not too busy trying to hold it becasue its so big and heavy. Great deal, a great way for new guitarists to start.

5 out of 5 stars Even better than I expected   April 19, 2007

I'm a long-time musician, short-time guitarist. I gave up playing acoustic guitar years ago because my small weak hands made it too difficult. I later bought an electric that I love, but still wanted an acoustic. I bought this guitar after buying and returning a half-size guitar that was cheaply made, though about the same price if you factor in the accessories included with this guitar. The new guitar arrived today. I couldn't wait to get in out of the box (if only so I wouldn't have to stare at the kid on the box - he kind of creeps me out, and I don't want to think of this as a kiddie guitar).

After tuning it up, I couldn't believe the sound. First off, the projection is incredible for such a small guitar - much better than the 1/2 size I had and another 3/4 I had tried. Also, the sound is really good for the money. It sounded great even before I managed to remove the 3 silicon baggies. To me, the guitar sounds sort of electric. It's clean and bright but not tinny. And it's nice that it has all steel strings.

The tuning could maybe use some minor tweaking, but not much. My $300 electric guitar needed way more adjustment to get it in tune to itself. The Carlo is also very easy for me to play with my small hands. It sits well on my leg, and the cut-away is a wonderful feature. The accessories are also nice to have (picks, gig bag, extra strings, adjustment tool). Some instructions would be nice (not that I needed them, but you might). I also would have preferred a hard case, but those a rare in packages like this (and much more expensive).

Overall - awesome value. It's much nicer than other guitars I looked at in this price range. I would definitely recommend it to beginners, large and small, or someone just looking to pick up an extra guitar to travel with or even just play around with. Don't be put off by the picture with the kid. It's a guitar that an experienced musician like myself can really enjoy.
