 Great product, but could be better October 21, 2007

I have used PC Study Bible for many years, and recently updated from Version Four "Complete Library" to Version Five "Advanced Library."
I have tried most of the Bible Study programs on the market, and PC Study Bible is MUCH easier to use than any other commercially available product I have seen. (The only product I have found with an easier interface is the free "E-Sword" package. Unfortunately, the E-sword program is not nearly as good when working with Hebrew text. If you are not doing a lot of study in the original Hebrew, I would STRONGLY suggest you try E-Sword before purchasing ANY of the commercially available products! Check it out at www.e-sword.com. I keep both E-sword and PC Study Bible on my computer, and for MOST of my study I use E-Sword!)
If you are studying a lot in Hebrew, however, I don't think there is another package that can help you study the original better than PC Study Bible. I particularly like the way PC study Bible gives an "interlinear" of any passage of the Bible, including verb parsings, etc. This is really helpful if, like me, your knowledge of the original languages is not as good as it once was!
PC Study Bible has a helpful "hover" function available for search results, etc. Just put the cursor over the verse, and a window will pop up showing the full text of the verse. While this is a helpful function, is is better implemented in E-Sword. In E-Sword, the hover function also works on verses referenced in commentary text, etc.
I do have a few issues with PC Study Bible. The main one is that it's the only Bible Software I know that still makes you TYPE IN your verse reference when looking up a package! I can't believe this issue has not been addressed. In most Bible Software packages I've seen, 3 or 4 mouse clicks will take you directly to any verse in the Bible. PC Study Bible is way behind the curve on this one.
My main problem with my Version Five Advanced upgrade is that is is incredibly SLOW! Almost anything you want it to do... you wait! My laptop is not particularly fast, but this was never a problem with version 4, or any other program I have. It's very frustrating.

Biblesoft has gotten serious about their software and seem to be listening to former criticism. They still include tons of outdated Christian freeware, but also they add some awesome bible dictionaries, handbooks, commentary, Greek, Hebrew helps etc. The best part is taking all of this and putting it in a explore and study package. They have updated the software a few times to address issues and I am truly happy having all my software as one massive search and explore. I know there are other products out there but i do feel you get the most easy, intuitive massive library for the price. I have added a lot of add ones for additional money and feel so good to have all my Christian resources all together in one package. It saves me tons of time not having to go the Christian Library when I have my own personal one. I have substituted collecting Christian books in my Biblesoft Pc for Dvds. Now that a good thing right? My only complaint? Get even more discounted books and sets of a variety. There is so much Christian material out. I love love love this product and find myself studying the bible instead of watching my massive DVD movie collection. Finally if you are a Hi-tech type of person like me then this is your answer. It fulfills your need to be on computer with the fulfillment of pursing God's truth in all his works of Words all together. I use this for my class, bible study, personal use, church etc. I wish i knew the people who produce this more they should do a profile or something to include in package. Ps don't skimp out by getting the lesser package the best value is the 5.0 Advance Reference Library. Ok to me its like the Ipod for Christian software and i am done!
