5 out of 5 stars GREAT MOVIE!!!   April 21, 2008
Enjoyed this movie very much. Ted Neely made a wonderful Jesus Christ. The soundtrack was moving and awesome. Really loved the part of Herrod and the song Jesus sang in the Garden. 5 stars all the way :D

5 out of 5 stars Well Worth It   April 20, 2008
I first saw Jesus Christ Superstar when it was released in the mid 1970's. Being a Catholic I was skeptical of the Passion being done in a Rock Musical style. However, what I found was it was a wonderful way in which to have those who are not interest in religion or the history of the Passion to become aware of what a remarkable story it truly is. Not only the scenery but the wonderful music, the closeness to the truth that is contained and even with some straying for a sign of the time, it was and is one of my very favorites to watch during the Lenten Season of Easter. I highly recommend this dvd for the entire family.

5 out of 5 stars Inspiring, emotional ride   April 9, 2008
This original version of the classic Rock Oppera is without a doubt, in my opinion, the most well produced and well acted, moving story of the last week of Jesus Christ ever filmed. The fact that His divinity and motives are being questioned by Judas Iscariot, and that the story is told from Judas' perspective, certainly does nothing to distract from the raw emotion and evocative symbolism embodied in this version of the Passion of the Christ. The first scene with Harrod is a real hoot until the true motives of the happy company become clear; then you feel the discomfort of the mockery as intended. This DVD version has some very interesting special features, including commentary by the title actor, Ted Neeley. That this year, 2008, is his last year touring with this opera, lends a certain bitter-sweet flavor to the commentary. The music is beautiful and always timely, which is of course the true definition of "classic". I highly recommend this version of the DVD.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent DVD   April 7, 2008
I love this DVD. I have seen the live show with Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson and this just brings back those memories. Great movie that I would recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Ted Neeley still rockin!   April 2, 2008
I recently saw Ted Neeley in Jesus Christ Superstar and his voice is still incredible over 35 years after he made the movie. I have seen the movie before, but love the live performace so much that I have seen it multiple times over the years. This is the first time I got to see Ted play Jesus, however, and it motivated me to make this classic a part of my collection. The songs are powerful and thought provoking. The music makes the production. I am not fond of where and how they decided to do the movie (mixing modern elements and so forth) and it is no where near as powerful as a live performace, but still very much worth having in your library.
