The Song of Bernadette January 2, 2008 A large support of religion and rejuvenation for faith. The movie has provided us with much inspiration of hope and meaningful guidance. A family member has been meaning to purchase this movie for quite some time. I checked with Amazon which prompted the purchase. This movie is recommended for those who require "a shot in the arm" to strengthen their faith.
Just a great story of faith and courage! January 2, 2008 This is one of my favorite movies. The story of a French peasant girl who sees a vision of the Virgin Mary in a garbage filled groto and the subsequent firestorm that is created by her vision; doubt by some of her family members, the community and the powers that be in this small French village are immense, even the Catholic heirarchy initially denies this girls vision, but, and this is the best part of the film, Bernadette Soubouris' undying faith and belief in what she has seen!
A great family picture!
A Moving Portrayal of the Miracle at Lourdes France December 24, 2007 If you believe in miracles, you'll want to see this movie over and over again. The actress. Jennifer Jones, plays the part of Bernadette Soubirous to perfection. She captured her innocense and unwavering spirtuality.
This portrayal of Bernadette's life takes place in Lourdes, France, and depicts the attitude of the Catholic Church and the town's politicians when the Virgin Mary appears to this uneducated niave young girl.
OUTSTANDING MOVIE!! November 20, 2007 The Song of Bernadette is an outstanding production. Jennifer Jones certainly deserved an Academy Award for her fine performance. It is amazing that Hollywood took such a complex story and historical event and was able to produce a fairly accurate depiction of the Virgin Mary's visit to Bernadette Soubirous (St. Bernadette) in Lourdes, France.
Great movie October 28, 2007 This is a classic, shown in black and white, a great family movie. It captures a faith so strong, unquestionable, unwavering, demonstrated by Saint Bernadette. Despite being the target of unbelieving town folk, she continued to be faithful and did exactly what was asked of her by our Lady, The Virgin Mary. This resulted in many healings and conversions through the Holy Waters of Lourdes France, that continue still today.
