World's Best Selling Book a cracking multigenerational adventure fantasy November 3, 2008 The Bible is a true epic, covering a family line from the first humans on earth to a time just 2000 years ago, in a tale which is not always suitable for children, taking in as it does sex, incest, slavery and infanticide along its way. It even includes a chapter worthy of Hunter S Thompson on an apocalyptic mushroom trip. The fantasy element provides us with tales of men swallowed by whales, prophetic dreams, and miracles by the dozen.
A book of contested authorship, The Bible is available in a number of English translations. This version uses the most archaic forms of language, but is the most enjoyable to read. Some chapters are made up of poems of great lyrical beauty.
The Bible could well be considered an essential read in Western culture, where so much of our great works of art have made use of its themes. It has inspired what is possibly the world's biggest fandom in Christianity, and parts of it are also followed by other religions.
false advertising September 24, 2008 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
I picked this up because I heard it advertised as the Gospel, which translates to "good news." It opens up by telling the reader how the human race is doomed because two poorly developed characters ate an apple that a snake told them to eat. That's not good news.
The Holy bible King James Version August 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received the shipment within a couple of days without a problem as usual. I would have liked to have known about the not so good quality of the paperback version beforehand. It is going to fall apart pretty soon I am afraid. As I will read in it a lot (it's the Bible)I would have rather spent a bit more money on a better version.

With this small, lightweight and aesthetically pleasing version of God's word, I can bring my shame for my body along with me everywhere I go!! Its a must have for ANYONE that needs confirmation from a God that your life has meaning.
remarkable book June 17, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
The King James version is one of the most accurate translations of the Bible. This translation includes stories, insight and advice for all who seek a Christlike life. It is very motivating and inspiring. And the history, teaching, and advice are true. My favorite is the New Testament especially the Sermon on the Mount.
