And God said... June 9, 2006 6 out of 26 found this review helpful
In the beginning God made the heavens and...oh, wait. What's that word? I couldn't tell because it's all smudged! At first I thought it might be melted chocolate but after further examination I saw that a lot of words were being smudged underneath my sweaty fingers. It seems as though, as I nelt before the Lord, our god, Jesus Christ, the perspiration from my plump digets were displacing the word of god onto my fingers. It was as if all those Jesus words were seeping into me...becoming me. Me becoming it. The Burgundy Leather cover sure made up for the smudges, though. My cousin, Enis, once shot at me with a .28 callibur and some shrapnel bounced off a tree and hit me...if it weren't for this here bible I'd be dead. Dead as a dead dog...that died in the dead of night...at a cemetary. Spooky! Thank you Jesus. Thank you New Living Translation, Burgundy Leather Flex.
Disappointed December 15, 2005 7 out of 31 found this review helpful
I ordered this book in October. Two months later in December I got a notice it should be shipped in another month. Now acceptable. With this kind of service I cancelled the order.
Holy Bible: New Living Translation (maybe) September 30, 2005 10 out of 38 found this review helpful
The book has been on order now for over one month and I just received an up-date that it will take again over another month before I might receive it. So I really can not review the book. But I would like to add that I probably could have hand printed a Bible by the time they will send it to me. I will not use a four letter word here because I don't want the sky to cloud up as I would like to live at least a few more years.
You haven't sent me my item! September 16, 2005 6 out of 34 found this review helpful
HOw on earth can I review an item you STILL haven't sent me!
I'm an NIV guy, but I also love the NLT Bible as well. August 22, 2005 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
The New Living Translation is one of three versions of the Bible my pastor refers to during his sermons--the other two being the King James and New International Versions. The NIV translation has been (and still remains) my personal favorite, but I recently began reading the NLT Bible during some of my recent Bible studies and devotions, and I really love this version as well. It is very easy to read and understand. It is also quite inexpensive. I do like to cross-reference several translations during my study of the Word--namely the NIV, NLT and New King James Versions. Another version I've recently started to read and also like is the New Century Version. I recommend the Holy Bible: New Living Translation for study of God's Word, and it can also make a great gift for friends and family as well.
