 The BEST Bible, by far October 2, 2008
My first exposure to this brand of study Bible and the New Living Translation. I can't rave enough about it. This Bible makes study easy. It explains things, ties things together, helps you learn how to apply the word to your life. I bought this in an attempt to re-solidify my Christianity after somewhat falling in my faith after a cheating husband and divorce. I recommend this HIGHLY. And the translation is by far the best I have ever read. I grew up reading King James and later NIV, but neither of them captured my interest and attention like this Bible does. It makes everything more easy to understand because it is in modern language, but without losing the original meaning. It just really comes alive to me and speaks to me like never before. This translation was done using perspectives from many different denominations and scholars so as to be an accurate translation with non-prejudiced notes on how to apply it to your life. FANTASTIC.

I can't say enough about this Bible. If context is important to you or the "why" of how something happened, this is a great learning tool. Perhaps if you're a seasoned bible reader these are not important. However if you're new to reading the bible, it's chock full of the story behind the story so I can understand so much more.

The Life Application Study Bible is a very good study Bible. It has numerous meaningful notes, illustrations, maps, & book introductions. The large print is easier to read, but is not really large, only in comparison with the usual sized print of regular Bibles.
I would give this Bible by Tydale 5 Stars if the the cover and binding were better. "Leather Bound", to me, implied that it was. It is not, just bonded leather which does not tend to wear well with use. I tried to check out what the cover was from the picture, but was not able to enlarge it enough to read that on the bottom of the box it says "Bonded". The binding does not appear very strong, and question if it is able to support a Bible of this size and weight for frequent use.
There seem to be few choices available at this time of nice editions of the bible, with both genuine leather covers and in large print. Indexing would be nice too.
