Wonderful July 25, 2008
Wonderful Bible. The sidebar questions are questions that most commonly come to mind when reading the Bible. The questions and answers can give you a new perspective on a familiar topic. I wish I had gotten this years ago.

In the past I have often been confused by the parables and some of the teachings spoken by Jesus Christ in the four gospels. The NIV Bible explains them very carefully by asking questions which allow the reader to understand what Jesus means. For example, in the book of Matthew Jesus teaches by saying "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven." I had always been confused by this, but this bible gives this explanation "The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are poor in spirit. Those who recognize their spiritual poverty and see their need for God's help"
This is only one example of the many ways in which the Quest Bible helped to make God's word easier to comprehend for me. I trust that it will do the same for you :)
Excellent Bible for New Readers May 31, 2008

The NIV Quest Study Bible is an easy to read Bible that should give new readers a deeper understanding of Scripture. There is an introduction before each book that gives a time frame of the action, the author (or possible author), and what to look for. The sidebars help foster knowledge of what is happening in each book, chapter and verse. In my opinion, these sidebars are the best feature of this Bible as they ask questions that point out important information that could be easily missed by readers. The back of the Bible has a Concordance, some important readings organized by topic and maps, among other things. The NIV translation is very easy to read and follow.
There are three courses laid out for readers, an introduction to the Bible, an overview of every book in the Bible, and the complete Bible. The introduction has three two week courses that teach basic foundations. The second course takes at least a chapter from every book in order. The third course lays out a plan for every word in the Bible, but skips from Old Testament to New Testament to keep the reader from tiring of some of the longer sections of the Old Testament.
All in all, this Bible is excellent for first time readers. It certainly has helped me accomplish my goal of making it all the way through the Bible.

I recently purchased this Bible for myself because I was looking for a great study bible. I love the way this Bible has the questions on the side that give deeper insight into what you just read or help to explain things that might not be perfectly clear. After seeing this Bible and really getting into it, my husband and I decided to purchase one for his grandmother for her birthday. She teaches Sunday School classes at church and she loved it! The layout of the Bible is fantastic and I love the introductions before each book that give information about who wrote it, when it was written, who is was written for, and other valuable information.
I highly recommend this Bible if you are looking for a GREAT Study Bible.
